How Much Meat?

The Chopping Block Deer & Wild Hog Processing and Meat Market

Your Meat - Your Way!

If you have a hog in a trap, you can take your time in deciding how & where to shoot it.  The best place to shoot a hog to kill it for processing (as well as most every other animal) is in the head.

Make an imaginary "X" between one eye and the opposite ear, then the other eye and the other ear.  Just above where the "X" meets is where you should place your shot.  We recommend a .22 rifle for this purpose.

Once you have shot the animal, cut the neck to bleed it out.  You'll want to use the sharpest knife you have, and do this as quickly as possible after the shot is made.  Be careful!  You have a sharp knife, and the animal is still alive, and may start kicking.

By killing the animal with the head shot, you get more meat!
